When did his life fall into the pit? No, Randy couldn’t look at it that way. That would be poison. Yet here he was, hiding out in the back bar at O’Connor’s...looking at one drink. One drink? Could one drink make the difference? Steady his nerves?
Who was he kidding? He’d been to the abyss before and now he stared into it, mesmerized by it, gazing into its cobra’s eyes.
When his step-brother...brother, he called him, left out the front door, Dr. Randy Allen offered a feeble excuse not to go with him to the meeting. Something about checking in with his answering service.
